Once upon a time

Standard

When my son was born I made him a nightgown, so did my mother and grandmother. Mine went in the bin after my first attempt at putting it on him. My mother’s was worn and worn and then passed on, my grandmother’s was worn then stored to be handed down to my first grandchild it is so beautiful.

I come from a long line of amazing home sewers – both sides of the family. I have inherited their fabric hoarding gene but not their sewing ability gene. I have lots of ideas and go buy the fabric to make them happen, start doubting my ability to pull it off – so the piles of fabric are growing. I need to start doing something about this, to Smash the Stash. And hopefully along the way improve my sewing skills so when I show something to mother she doesn’t always say “you need to redo that seam”.
